SolSta Records Konica Hexanon Lens Test

At Visual Captive we are continually seeking to enhance our creative abilities. We are constantly testing new techniques and equipment. We recently acquired a set of vintage Konica Hexanon lenses that give us a new tool for storytelling. To put these lenses to the test we recently experimented with the Konica Hexanon Lens while filming at SolSta Records in St. Louis Park, MN.

For those of you who have not visited SolSta Records before, it’s an award winning brick and mortar retailer of new and vintage vinyl records that husband-and-wife team Hannah and Phil Borreson opened in 2016 as Solid State Vinyl. For the production of this brief video, I aimed to experiment with the lens in a setting that evoked feelings of nostalgia. The welcoming ambiance of SolSta Records managed to capture both a sense of invitation and reminiscence.

The Konica Hexanon Lens is a series of manual focus camera lenses that were manufactured by Konica Corporation, a Japanese company that produced photographic equipment from the early 1900s until the early 2000s. The Hexanon lenses are made for Konica's 35mm SLR cameras, and are known for their sharpness, contrast, and color reproduction. This 1970s set is known for its character, flaring, and sharpness. This is a great set if you’re looking to produce vintage-style videos.

Thank you SolSta Records for allowing us to film at your store! Follow the link above to watch.
